FPA provided civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineering services for Bayshore Community Hospital, a 225-bed acute care hospital located on a 37-acre campus in Holmdel, New Jersey. After performing a preliminary assessment and site investigations (Phase I and Phase II), with soil sampling, we prepared site plans for a variety of campus improvements, including new roadways, parking facilities, surgery addition, lobby addition, magnetic resonance imaging addition, and an office-laboratory addition.
FPA’s design services involved expansion of an existing surgical suite to provide an additional operating room. In order to accomplish this, an existing sterile storage area was modified into an operating room. HVAC services, medical gases and electric power were designed for the new operating room. Consequently, a building expansion was required to create a new sterile storage area. This facility was provided with an independent HVAC unit with dehumidification and humidity control. Structural design of new footings, beams and supporting framework was performed for the expansion work. Site design services necessary to accommodate the changes to the property resulting from the addition were provided.
The Civil Engineering group prepared surveys, site plans, landscape plans, and development permit applications to facilitate the construction of the two-story emergency department addition, a medical storage room addition, an office/laboratory addition, aboveground fuel tank improvements, parking lot redesign to accommodate 410 parking spaces and the redesign of the emergency heliport located at the site. In addition, the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Department prepared construction documents for an exterior sanitary sewer lift station to serve the additions.
