As engineering consultant on the Ernest Bock & Sons team, FPA prepared plans for additions and renovations to two schools in Bridgeton, NJ, part of a $46 million Design/Build contract with the New Jersey Schools Development Authority (NJSDA). The Buckshutem Road Elementary School project increased the school’s capacity from 404 students to 581 students in grades K-8. The project included 33,000 square feet of new construction to accommodate classrooms, science labs, art room, gymnasium and locker rooms. The project also includes 7,000 square feet of renovations for the conversion of an existing gymnasium to a media center, and the existing media center to student services offices.
FPA provided Civil/Site, Survey, Structural and Geotechnical Engineering services as part of the Design/Build Construction Documents for the project in accordance with the NJSDA design standards. FPA’s services included Topographic Survey, Subsurface Geotechnical Investigation, CAFRA Applicability Determination, Freshwater Wetlands Letter of Interpretation – Presence/ Absence and Permit Application; Stormwater Management System in conformance with the NJDEP Stormwater Rules; and preparation of grading, utility, Soil Erosion and Sediment Control, and landscaping plans. FPA also provided structural engineering design for the addition and renovations utilizing a combination of masonry bearing walls and steel framing.
FPA services during construction included Shop Drawing Review and construction administrative services.
