FPA performed geotechnical and other civil engineering services for the development of a seven-story, 366,000 square-foot, 326-bed acute-care hospital and a three-story, 43,000-square-foot ambulatory care center on a nine-acre industrial site in Jersey City. Because of previous heavy industrial usage and contamination of the project area, our environmental services were tapped during the predevelopment stage. These services involved the cleanup and demolition of a three block area within a designated redevelopment zone in Jersey City. Site plan, geotechnical, and environmental investigation and design services were provided to transform the resulting vacant land which was contaminated by the presence of “historic fill” into a property suitable for construction of a state-of-the-art medical facility. The project not only provides the needed medical care to Jersey City but acted as a catalyst in the redevelopment of the surrounding area.
FPA’s construction phase services included monitoring of demolition and site remediation, foundation installation, concrete testing, and installation of site improvements.
