FPA was retained by Essex County to design the next phase of the Orange Reservoir consisting of completing the walkway that spans around the reservoir and allows visitors to utilize the entire reservoir’s perimeter for walking, riding bikes, roller blading, jogging and other recreational activities. The reservoir is also accessible at night as a result of the nautical light fixtures that were placed around the reservoir.
To enhance the passive recreation, ornamental benches were provided for visitors to use. Ornamental trash receptacles were also strategically placed around the reservoir for visitor utilization in keeping the reservoir clean. To make the reservoir loop work, two pre-fabricated decorative bridges were installed, one over the reservoir spillway and the second bridge approximately 200 feet down which crosses over a water pocket. The addition of the bridges allows visitors full access to this picturesque and inviting resource.
