FPA provided professional engineering design services for the Athletic Field Improvements at Verona High School from conceptual planning through construction. The Athletic Field Improvements included a new synthetic turf multi-purpose field with sports lighting, a new synthetic turf baseball field with renovated dugouts and bleachers, a new synthetic turf softball field with new dugouts and scoreboard, renovation of existing tennis courts and addition of new tennis court, a new parking lot and stormwater management systems.
There were several major challenges for this project including ground improvement design consisting of rapid impact compaction for the multi-purpose field, zoning board of adjustment approval for the site improvements, relocation of the existing sanitary sewer main outside of the new synthetic field areas, coordination of the construction schedule to minimize impact to the school and athletic activities and designing the project to meet the financial budget established by the Board of Education Referendum.
FPA successfully designed and managed the project to obtain zoning board of adjustment approval, coordinated the construction schedule to meet the educational and athletic needs of the Verona Board of Education and maintain the construction cost within the approved budget. The new Athletic Field Improvements were completed in time to allow Verona to host their first night football game against their arch rival on the new synthetic turf field.
