FPA Attends Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Warinanco Ice Rink

Last week, French & Parrello Associates (FPA) joined members of the Union County Board of County Commissioners and local officials to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Ice Rink at Warinanco Park, an exciting addition to one of the county’s most beloved recreational destinations.

Commissioner Chairwoman Lourdes M. Leon highlighted the County’s continued investment in inclusive, family-friendly facilities, noting that “The new year-round indoor rink represents more than a facility. It represents opportunity. It’s an investment in recreation, youth development, and ensuring that every child, no matter where they come from, has the chance to get on the ice and be part of something great.”

Attending the event for FPA were Executive Vice President and Manager of Civil/Site, Brian R. Decina, PE, CME, who serves as Project Manager, and Senior Business Development Consultant, Daniel DiPoalo, alongside Josh Bousum and Daniel Hopkins, AIA, of USA Architects.

The new facility will feature a nearly 50,000-square-foot, fully ADA-compliant building designed to elevate the skating experience for athletes and visitors alike. Inside, the rink will include a full-size 200’ x 85’ ice sheet, five team rooms, a multipurpose room, bleacher seating, a viewing lounge, skate rental, café, and a covered connection to the adjacent Warinanco Sports Center. Outside, plans include a new ice hockey themed playground area, adding even more recreational opportunities, as well as an expanded parking lot with a dedicated player/visitor pickup/dropoff area.

The project is expected to be completed by July 2027. FPA is proud to play a key role in delivering this project, which will continue the legacy of Warinanco Park as a vibrant community hub for generations to come.
