Pompton Valley Rail Trail Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Last week, French & Parrello Associates (FPA) proudly joined local officials, residents, and project partners at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Pompton Valley Rail Trail—formerly known as the New York Susquehanna & Western (NYS&W) Shared Use Path.

The FPA project team, including Kevin Morgan, Matthew Kearney, Alexandra Pitarresi, and Matthew Gizzi, was in attendance alongside nearly 100 community members and stakeholders who played a role in bringing the trail to life.

Retained by Morris County, FPA provided professional engineering services throughout the project, including construction management, inspection, and materials testing. Since its start in June 2022, the project has transformed approximately five miles of abandoned NYS&W railway and bridge into a ten-foot-wide, pervious shared-use trail, enhancing regional connectivity and recreational opportunities.

The Pompton Valley Rail Trail is now officially open to the public.
