FPA Selected for New Brunswick’s Landmark Stormwater Utility Master Plan
French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is proud to announce that it has been selected by the City of New Brunswick, New Jersey, also known as “The Hub City,” to prepare its Municipal Stormwater Utility Master Plan.
This project represents a significant milestone for both the City and FPA. It will be the first Municipal Stormwater Utility Master Plan developed for the City of New Brunswick and one of the first of its kind in the region. The initiative will establish a strategic framework for managing stormwater infrastructure, supporting regulatory compliance, and advancing long-term community resilience.
The project will leverage FPA’s multidisciplinary expertise in water resources engineering, GIS and database development, hydraulic & hydrogeologic (H&H) modeling, and NJDEP Municipal Separate Stormwater System (MS4) permit guidance and compliance, land use planning and build out analysis, asset inventory and assessment, capital improvement program development, and grant funding research and assistance. FPA will be partnering with Bright View Engineering, whose familiarity with the City’s ongoing stormwater initiatives provides valuable local insight, and the Rutgers University School of Engineering Flood Resilience Laboratory, a recognized leader in flood prediction modeling and resilience research.
“New Brunswick’s decision to develop a Municipal Stormwater Utility Master Plan reflects a forward-thinking approach to infrastructure planning and environmental stewardship,” said Eric C. Betz, PE, BCEE, CME, Vice President & Director of Infrastructure. “We’re honored to help lead this pioneering effort by bringing together engineering, data-driven planning, and innovative partnerships to create a solution that not only serves New Brunswick’s long-term needs but also helps establish a model for municipalities across New Jersey and the region.”
This project award reflects FPA’s commitment to understanding each client’s short-term goals, long-term objectives and delivering innovative, multidisciplinary solutions to today’s most complex infrastructure challenges. By integrating diverse areas of expertise into a single collaborative team, FPA continues to help municipalities plan, protect, and invest in resilient infrastructure that serves their communities for generations.
