Lehigh University E-Bus Feasibility Study
French & Parrello Associates (FPA) provided professional engineering services to Lehigh University for the preparation of an E-Bus Charging Station Feasibility Study. The study was conducted for the installation of electrical and parking infrastructure to support up to eight Proterra electric buses. The study includes a scalable installation model and will consider the full build-out for the installation of four Proterra 120kW 40 foot ZX5 Max bus dual charging stations.
The feasibility assessment involved review of the Campus Master Plan, amongst other university plans and initiatives. Each location was analyzed for the impact on the transit system efficiency and logistics. The feasibility report included an alternatives matrix, cost estimates for each of the seven (7) alternatives, coordination with outside utility companies and in-depth analysis of the campus electrical grid. Site plans were prepared for each alternative, including turning template analysis for transit vehicles, and a final presentation to campus stakeholders will be performed upon selection of the preferred alternative.
