Interns at FPA: Hayley Jankowski
As National Intern Day approaches, we’re continuing our spotlight series highlighting some of the students currently in the Internship Program at French & Parrello Associates (FPA). National Intern Day, held on July 27th, is used as an opportunity to acknowledge and recognize the future leaders of our world. Through this spotlight series, we mean to highlight our appreciation for the Interns at FPA and all the hard work they do.
The following is a Q&A with Hayley Jankowski, an Intern in FPA’s GIS Department. Hayley is a Junior at Rowan University where she studies Biomedical Engineering.
What has been your greatest takeaway during your Internship at FPA so far?
From my internship at FPA, I have been able to expand my skill set. My biggest takeaway is the valuable information each person has to offer here at FPA. They have helped me build upon my GIS skills and to see firsthand how it can be applied to an engineering discipline.
What would you say is the best thing about interning at FPA?
The best thing about interning at FPA is that each division is unique and brings a number of valuable skills and information. Even though you may only work in one department, their work is intertwined with others, so you are given the opportunity to understand how every department comes together to complete a project. Moreover, the people at FPA are not only personable but knowledgeable, and it is great to learn from them.
What career path do you hope to take after graduation, and why?
After graduation, I hope to go into research and development. Throughout High School and my recent years at Rowan, I have been drawn to research. I have always been naturally curious and had the desire to investigate scientific questions in the biological field. Research and development would allow me to conduct experiments, be physically involved in my work, and attempt to answer such questions.
