FPA Wins Multiple NJSPE Awards
We are thrilled to announce that the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers (NJSPE) has honored French & Parrello Associates’ (FPA) with two awards for 2024.
President and CEO Steven Tardy, PE, earned the 2024 Distinguished Engineering Service Award. This award honors a distinguished professional engineer for meritorious service to the Engineering profession.
Steve began his career over 30 years ago, when he joined FPA while pursuing his bachelor’s degree as a Summer Intern at the age of 18 years old. Since then, Steve has risen to the level of President and Chief Executive Officer of the company. Steve’s story and career at FPA serves as an incredible example and inspiration for our newer employees, shedding light on the admirable company culture FPA has built over the years.
As President and CEO, Steven has played a critical role in shaping FPA’s community service initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to social responsibility in order to inspire and guide employees to give back to the community and foster partnerships with local organizations. By championing a culture of service within his organization, Steven has created a positive impact that extends far beyond FPA’s bottom line, and FPA frequently partners with both local and national organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Clean Ocean Action, and Monmouth County Family & Children Services, among others.
This accolade is a testament to his dedication, hard work, and the positive impact he has made on FPA and the wider community.
The Central Avenue Streetscape Improvements Project earned the 2024 Meritorious Public Project Award. This award honors an outstanding publicly funded project that made a positive improvement to the residents of New Jersey. Central Avenue won based on elements of innovation, complexity, achievement, and value to the public within the project.
FPA led a transformative two-year, nearly $4 million streetscape improvement project in Jersey City’s Heights neighborhood. Faced with pandemic disruptions and unexpected challenges, the project aimed to rejuvenate the urban landscape, funded by the City’s Capital Budget and NJDOT Municipal Aid Program. FPA’s comprehensive efforts included road resurfacing, new signage, bicycle-friendly features, drainage enhancements, ADA-compliant sidewalks, and aesthetic additions. Collaboration with stakeholders, including CASID, played a crucial role. Overcoming COVID-related supply constraints and structural surprises, FPA’s innovative solutions ensured a remarkable revitalization aligned with the community’s vision, despite unprecedented hurdles.
Congratulations to the each of the team members who have worked on this project, including William Masol, PE, CME, Charles LaPlaca, and Michael Carangui, EIT!
In addition to these two outstanding awards, we would like to extend a special congratulations to Michael Baker International for winning the Exemplary Public Project Award for the Replacement of Nacote Creek Bridge Project!
FPA was part of the team retained by Atlantic County to provide Engineering Services for the replacement of Bridge PR-07 on Old New York Road (CR 610) over Nacote Creek in the City of Port Republic, Atlantic County, New Jersey. The project consists of an existing functionally obsolete swing bridge and replacing it with a new slab-on-girder fixed bridge that maintains the existing low chord elevation. The services FPA provided included Bridge Design, ROW Engineering, Stormwater Management and Drainage Design, and Topographic Surveying and Engineering.
