Interns at FPA: Jillian Jankowski

In recognition of National Intern Day, we’re continuing our spotlight series highlighting some of the students currently in the Internship Program at French & Parrello Associates (FPA). National Intern Day, held on July 27th is used as an opportunity to acknowledge and recognize the future leaders of our world. Through this spotlight series, we mean to highlight our appreciation for the Interns at FPA and all the hard work they do.

The following is a Q&A with Jillian Jankowski, an Intern in the Water Resources Department at FPA. Jillian currently attends Rowan University as a Civil and Environmental Engineering student. After interning in FPA’s GIS Department at the end of her Sophomore year, Jillian decided to try out the Water Resources Department in the Summer of 2023.

What has been your greatest takeaway during your Internship at FPA so far?
So far, my greatest takeaway from this internship has been applying my academic studies and skills to real life situations. By being challenged with actual engineering projects, I am able to fully understand what will be required of me when I transition from a student into my future career as an engineer.

What would you say is the best thing about interning at FPA?
The best thing about FPA is the people who work here. Everyone is willing to make time to answer questions or assist on any project or problem you may have while working.

What career path do you hope to take after graduation, and why?
After graduation, I hope to pursue a career in structural engineering, but I am not sure yet.
