Scudder Falls Bridge
The Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project was advanced by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), and included the replacement of the Scudder Falls Bridge (SFB) and the reconstruction of 4.4 miles of I-95 in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
As part of the project, FPA performed the Preliminary/Final Design for the following structures:

New Jersey Mainline Approach Bridge (consisting of two spans (164’ & 61’ long) of welded steel plate girders with a composite deck with concrete stub abutments on steel H-piles and drilled shaft pier bent) carrying the widened SB & NB I-95 and SB off-ramp over NJ Route 29 NB, Delaware & Raritan (D&R) Canal and NJ Route 175.

Pennsylvania Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge (providing a connection from the Main River Bridge to the Delaware Canal), consisting of a five-span, 12’ wide, 355’ long bridge composed of two continuous, steel rolled beams with composite deck slab.
- 3,250 LF of Noise Walls; Seven Overhead Sign Support Structures; and Five Cantilever Sign Support Structures in New Jersey.

The NJ structures were designed in accordance with the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, NJDOT Bridges & Structures Design Manual, and the 2007 NJDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. While the PA structure was designed in accordance with the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, PENNDOT DM-4, and Publication 408 specifications. FPA will be performing services during construction (review of working drawings and RFIs, consultation during construction, attendance at site visits, and preparation of Change in Plans and As-builts).
