FPA Attends Echo Hill Pond Ribbon Cutting
On Tuesday, August 4, French & Parrello Associates (FPA) attended the Ribbon-Cutting & Fish Stocking Ceremony at Echo Hill Pond, hosted by John E. Lanza and the Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners. The event celebrated the reopening of Echo Hill Pond following the recent dam rehabilitation and featured a ceremonial fish stocking conducted by the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife.
The rehabilitation of Echo Hill Pond has included construction of a new concrete spillway, sluice gate, pedestrian bridge, and stilling basin, as well as enhancements to the earthen embankment. FPA provided design, permitting and construction support services to the County throughout this project.
Representing FPA were Project Manager Christopher W. Marx, PE, who leads the firm’s Water Resources Department, and Staff Engineer Austin Werner, EIT, who served as FPA’s on-site project representative during construction. They were joined by fellow project team members John Kalogridis of Kalogridis Contracting LLC and Kunal Patel, Assistant Director at the NJDEP Division of Resilience Engineering and Construction (DREC).
With the pond refilled and reopened, Echo Hill Pond once again provides opportunities for kayaking, fishing, and other outdoor recreation. During the ceremony, Commissioner Director Lanza noted that native wildlife has already begun returning to the pond, highlighting the revitalization of the local ecosystem.
Campers from the County’s YMCA Nature Camp at Echo Hill Park were also among the first to enjoy the restored pond, helping state officials release bass and other fish during the stocking.
Through collaboration among the County and project team, including regulatory agencies, the rehabilitation of Echo Hill Pond Dam restored an important piece of infrastructure while helping preserve Echo Hill Pond as a recreational and environmental resource for County residents and visitors for years to come.
