Engineering shapes the world around us—from the infrastructure we rely on to the innovations that improve our daily lives. DiscoverE’s Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day is all about inspiring young girls to explore careers in STEM and showing them that engineering is a place where they belong.
At French & Parrello Associates (FPA), we believe in fostering the next generation of engineers by sharing our experiences. To celebrate this day, we asked some of our female engineers to reflect on their journeys by responding to one of three prompts:

I became an engineer because… “When I walked into the Pantheon for the first time and thought that if these old guys can build this hundreds of years ago and it still stands, I can definitely do something as, if not more, impressive one day.” ~Catherine Rooney

I became an engineer because… “In school I wanted to challenge myself with STEM courses and I knew that when I would start my career the work would continue to be challenging but meaningful to me because I would get to see the work come to life.
