FPA Honored with Two NJSPE Project Awards
French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is honored to share that the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers (NJSPE) has recognized two of the firm’s projects with 2026 NJSPE Awards in the Public Project of the Year category. This award recognizes publicly funded engineering projects that have made a meaningful and lasting impact on communities throughout New Jersey.
The South Amboy Ferry Terminal Project earned first place in the Public Project of the Year category.
This project, located in South Amboy, New Jersey, revitalized a 20-acre waterfront site into a modern ferry terminal, creating a new transportation hub with commuter parking, waterfront amenities, and resilient infrastructure. The South Amboy Ferry Terminal Project provided the City of South Amboy with a unique opportunity to advance passenger ferry service initiatives while enhancing environmental conditions and providing direct public access to the waterfront. With a history of ferry service and cargo port operations dating back to 1684, this project re-establishes the site as a prominent transportation hub and public landmark with the construction of a first-rate ferry facility. FPA’s President & CEO Steven Tardy, along with Bahram Farzaneh, Richard W. Sisti, Michael W. Schappert, and Jonathan V. Crawford accepted the award at the event. The NJSPE awarded the Replacement of Venice Lagoon Bridge Project third place in the Public Project of the Year category.
The bridge, located in Atlantic City, New Jersey, serves as the sole access route connecting the Venice Park neighborhood to the mainland. Recognizing the community’s dependence on this crossing, the City of Atlantic City and FPA embarked on a mission to design and deliver a durable, resilient, and safe bridge replacement that would restore reliable access for generations to come. The original seven-span, 130-foot-long bridge was replaced with a five-span, 134-foot-long structure designed to meet the functionality, safety, and durability demands of a marine environment. FPA’s William C. Pyontek and Rashaad Pratt accepted the award at the event. Congratulations to the project team on this honor!
