French & Parrello Associates (FPA) provided full service engineering and consulting services for New Jersey Natural Gas’ (NJNG) new training facility, located in Howell, New Jersey.

NJNG serves more than half a million customers in Monmouth, Ocean, Morris, Middlesex and Burlington counties. In 2017, NJNG recognized the need for an improved, state-of-the-art facility that would serve as both a training center for its employees as well as a symbol for their dedication to safety. The completed campus includes a two-story, 30,000 square foot training center, with classrooms, a 75-seat lecture hall and administrative offices, as well as a mock-up town nicknamed “Safety Town,” complete with small scale houses and streets. The mock-up town includes above and below ground utility facilities and shed-like structures that simulate buildings and homes, with various appliances, gas meters and other equipment that is typically incorporated into the overall public utility distribution system.

FPA was involved with the entire project, from inception at the concept design stages to the construction completion stage. FPA developed site plans and secured all regulatory permits to permit the construction of this facility.
